In this blog post, I am going to be discussing my doctoral research as well as a book I am helping co-author regarding Edtech tools for new teachers coming out in early 2018.
Doctoral Research
First, I am really getting into my doctoral research. My research involves data mining (DM), data-driven decision making (DDDM), and evidence-based practices (EBP). I am researching how DM, DDDM, and EBP are all tools educational leaders can use to improve their decision-making and practice as leaders in K-12 schools. However, many educational leaders do not know they are utilizing these tools. In addition, educational leaders may not be using these tools at all within their practice as leaders. Therefore, there needs to be research that describes how educational leaders are using DM, DDDM, and EBP and how often they are utilizing these tools within decision-making as well as within their practice as educational leaders. As a result, I hope to complete a descriptive study on what I described above as well as determine the affects DM, DDDM, and EBP being utilized by educational leaders may affect student achievement and school improvement. I intend on collecting data in the fall of 2018 and have the dissertation completed by the summer of 2019 with my defense in July or August with publishing occurring shortly thereafter.
New Book
I am currently finishing a project with my cohort and professor on a new book centered on Edtech tools for new teachers. I am one of the project leads and I am excited that we are nearing its completion, which is relieving and exciting. The book I am co-authoring will cover Edtech tools for classroom management, learning management systems, collaboration tools, how new teachers can select Edtech tools for their classroom, and how new teachers can use social media to broaden their social network and extend their learning as professionals. We have done a great job thus far! I am proud of our team for coming together to get this done! I am excited for when this book comes out in early 2018 on Amazon.com. Overall, I am very excited about what’s to come. I will check-in various times over the next few months to update you on my research as well as any new developments regarding DM, DDDM, and EBP being utilized in schools across the nation as well as any other projects I am working on ( I see a few opportunities coming soon, and possibly another book!).
